Curious, cheeky, dreamy – children are at the heart of my picture books. I love capturing their gestures, moods and small adventures in mixed media.

While illustrating Klaus Taube's “Der alte Hund”, I loved drawing the many dogs Bernd meets on his journey. For “Hannah's Fairy” I painted the animals of the Thuringian Forest more naturally – a goldfinch, a hedgehog, proud roosters. Together they show the range of techniques I work with, from watercolour to collage.

The baby dragon from Violetta Nowakowska’s “The Seven Dragons” is small, lonely and looking for help. Without realizing it, he helps the other dragons discover their true strengths.

Animals of the Thuringian Forest for a wildlife calendar – robin, fox, squirrel, tawny owl, hare, hedgehog and many more. Watercolour and coloured pencil, painted naturally and with a lot of affection for the small details.

Watercolour herbs for a Kneipp association calendar – rose hip, sage, arnica, chamomile, hops, wild garlic and more. One plant for every month, painted with a botanist's eye and a gentle, airy touch.

“About Nikodem, His World and Other Worlds” was my very first picture book and my diploma project at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle – a freely developed story, strongly shaped by collage.
